Porto Alegre

The Caravana do Futuro began on Workers’ Day, bringing together the struggle for rights and collective memory in a city that resists and reflects on the future.

On May 1st, International Workers’ Day, the Caravana launched its activities alongside CUT RS during the unified demonstration of the trade union federations at Casa do Gaúcho. On that occasion, an interactive survey was conducted to listen to the public about the use of coal as an energy source.

The Caravana also marked one year since the 2024 floods with a projection on the chimney of the Usina do Gasômetro, honoring the lives lost in the worst climate disaster in the region’s history.

At Praça Montevidéu, in the Historic Center, a table was set up for open conversations about the consequences of the floods. The memories and reflections shared in this dialogue were transformed into embroidered pieces by the women of the Linhas de POA collective.
